A: YES! All divisions welcome beginners — especially LTP (ages 4-5) and U9 (ages 6-8).

A: U9: Team T-shirt (players keep) & Team hat provided
U11+: Team hat provided
Q: Are tournaments included in the registration fee?
A: No — tournaments are optional and team-led.

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: Coaches will notify families. Games may be cancelled depending on field conditions.

1. When does registration open?
Registration opens January 31, 2026 through RAMP Interactive.
2. How do I register?
Register online through our RAMP system. New users must create a RAMP account.
3. What age division should my child register in?
Divisions are based on birth year.
Refer to our 2026 Age Division Chart on the Registration Information page.
4. Can my child play up an age group?
Maybe — requests are reviewed based on player readiness, space, and league rules. An evaluation may be required.
5. Can my child play down?
No. Players must register according to birth year unless exceptional circumstances apply.

7. Are tournaments included?
No. Tournament entry fees are additional and optional, decided by the team.

9. When does the season start and end?
Late April to late June/early July (depending on playoffs and weather).
10. How often do teams practice or play?
Most teams practice or play 2-3 times per week.
11. Where do practices take place?
At the Varsity View home diamonds at Marj Edey
12. What league do we play in?
Varsity View teams participate in the CRSL (Capital Region Softball League).
13. What equipment does my child need?
U11+ must have navy pants, a gold belt, and gold socks.
14. Do pitchers require special equipment?
Yes — a pitching mask is mandatory for U11-U19.
15. Does my child need their own catcher’s gear?
No. The club provides full catcher’s gear. Players may bring their own if preferred.
16. How are teams formed?
Teams are formed based on registration numbers, roster limits, and balancing skill levels where possible.
17. Can my player be on the same team as a friend?
We try to accommodate, but no guarantees can be made — especially in competitive age groups.
18. Who coaches the teams?
All teams are coached by community volunteers.

19. What happens in poor weather?
Coaches will communicate cancellations.
Field closures may occur due to safety and field conditions.
20. Are cancelled games rescheduled?
League games may be rescheduled depending on field availability.
Practices are typically not rescheduled.
21. What is the LTP program?
LTP is for 4-5-year-olds and introduces children to softball through fun, skill-building games with no competition.
22. Is LTP competitive?
No. There are no standings, scores, or formal games.
23. Are there pitchers and catchers in U9?
No. Players hit from:
Coach soft toss
Mechanical pitching machine (if available)
24. Do U9 players receive uniforms?
Yes — a team T-shirt they can keep.
25. Do all teams participate in tournaments?
Tournament participation is optional and determined by the team and coaches.
26. Are tournament fees included in registration?
No — they are additional costs split by the team.
